Ballett Dortmund, Semperoper Ballett announces 2025-2026 season

Two German companies have announced their 2025-2026 programmes.
Ballett Dortmund announced its new season on 7th April 2025.
Jaš Otrin will succeed Xin Pen Wan as Artistic Director next season. Xin Pen Wan will leave the company at the end of the current season after 22 years.
Outgoing Artistic Director's Swan Lake will be revived next season, and an International Ballet Gala will take place at both the beginning and end of the season.
In October, a cross-disciplinary production of Carmina Burana, a Dortmund premiere, will bring together the ballet, the opera chorus and soloists from the Dortmund Opera ensemble, as well as the Dortmund Philharmonic. The ballet is choreographed by Artist in Residence Edward Clug.
Frida by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, the other Artist in Residence, will make a company premiere.
The Tribute to Mozart triple bill will feature Jiří Kylián's Petit Mort, Uwe Scholz's Jeunehomme and a new creation by the young American choreographer Tess Voelker, who will make her choreographic debut in Dortmund with this work.
The NRW Junior Ballet will perform Radio and Juliet by Edward Clug.

Semperoper Ballett Dresden, which turned 200 years old in April 2025, announced its new season in late-March.
The Wings and Feathers double bill features contemporary works, Colossus by Stephanie Lake, new Artist in Residence, and Vertical Road by Akram Khan. Colossus brings dancers from Semperoper Ballett and students from Palucca University, two institutions celebrating 200th and 100th anniversaries, respectively.
The season also features Parts and Pieces by Artistic Director Kinsun Chan, Onegin by John Cranko, The Nutcracker by Aaron S. Watkin and Jason Beechey, The Sleeping Beauty by Watkin, Noetic by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and a world premiere by siblings Imre and Marne van Opstal.
