The Dutch National Ballet and David Dawson extended their artistic partnership by five years, the Dutch National Opera & Ballet said on 15th January 2025.
Dawson, originally from London, the United Kingdom, has been Associate Artist with the Dutch National Ballet since 2015. Their partnership has been extended through 2025-2029, the news statement said.
Dawson’s comment is nice. He said in the statement, “I am very happy to continue my creative relationship as Associate Artist with Dutch National Ballet and honoured to be able to call Dutch National Opera & Ballet my artistic home. I am excited about what the future will bring and look forward to creating new work with the incredible dancers of the company and building on the legacy that we have already shared together for so many years.”
I was lucky enough to watch Dawson’s Anima Animus with the Dutch National Ballet in Amsterdam last year. I loved his hardcore classical contemporary ballet. Here is Riho Sakamoto in rehearsal of Anima Animus, wearing the Misha leotard. I, too, look forward to watching more of his amazing creations.
Dawson is also known for collaborating with Yumiko Takeshima for costumes.
