Pas de ballet core, s'il vous plaît. French outdoor sporting goods brand Salomon is moving into the hardcore of the ballet world, instead of launching a ballet core.
L'Opéra national de Paris announced it has signed a partnership agreement with Salomon for Paris Opera Ballet for the next three seasons, the opera said in a news release on 10th June 2026.
Starting with the current 2025-2026 season, Salomon will supply Paris Opera Ballet with equipment, shoes, sportwear and others as the Official Equipment Partner of Paris Opera Ballet.
"Over the next three seasons, the Ballet's 154 dancers will benefit from equipment specifically designed to support every aspect of their daily practice, including warm-up, training, rehearsals, recovery and travel," the Paris Opera's news release said.
"Training footwear, technical apparel and performance accessories will accompany the artists throughout the different phases of their activity."
Here is a marketing movie clip on Salomon and Paris Opera Ballet instagram accounts.
Salomon SAS, headquartered in Annecy, France, is known for manufacturing skis, mountain climbing goods and other sport gears. The partnership will help the brand to expand into a new market.
Salomon is a part of Amer Sport, Inc, which also owns other sporting brands including Arc'teryx. Amer Sport's revenue increased 27% in full year 2025 compared with the previous year, according to the company's financial result. The Helsinki-, Finland,- headquartered parent company considers Salomon as a key growth driver.
Below is my personal opinion. The move to tie up with Paris Opera Ballet is respectful. It is much better than launching a ballet core collection. But does it eat into my market? Hmmm.... What do you think? By the way, I have a pair of Salomon skis somewhere in my parents' house.
