Siphesihle November to guest dance with Cape Ballet Africa

Siphesihle November, The National Ballet of Canada's Principal Dancer, will guest dance with Cape Ballet Africa, the Toronto-based company announced on 6th March 2025.
Siphesihle will appear as a guest artist in Nacho Duato’s Remanso with the young South African company later in March at the Artscape Opera House in Cape Town, South Africa.
Siphesihle was born in Zolani, South Africa. He joined The National Ballet of Canada in 2017 and was promoted to Principal in 2021. His brother is Mthuthu November, Senior Artist of the London-based Ballet Black and an award-winning amazing choreographer.
The National Ballet of Canada has published two more press releases this week.
The company has been nominated for the Olivier Awards for the first time ever, the press release on 4th March 2025 said.
"Nominated for Best New Dance Production is Frontiers: Choreographers of Canada, featuring Angels’ Atlas by Crystal Pite, Passion by James Kudelka and islands by Emma Portner. The programme was performed by the National Ballet at Sadler’s Wells during its recent tour to London, England in October 2024. Tom Visser, who created the lighting design for Angels’ Atlas is nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Dance."
The other press release on 5th March was regarding Positioning Ballet, an international ballet conference, which the company hosted this year from 28th February to 2nd March. It said 34 Artistic Directors from 17 different countries gathered, the largest attendance for the conference ever, and discussed the current status of the ballet industry and economics behind it. The next conference will be held in Finland.
