Svetlana Zakharova's show cancelled in Italy due to international tensions

Teatro del Maggio Musicale announced on 8th January 2026 that Ukraine-born Russian ballerina Svetlana Zakharova and her violinist husband's show has been cancelled.

The theatre in Firenze, Italy, said in a news release;

"The Teatro del Maggio Musicale announces that the ballet “Pas de deux for toes and fingers”, featuring Svetlana Zakharova and Vadim Repin and scheduled for 20 and 21 January 2026, has been temporarily suspended due to the ongoing international tensions, which have created a climate that could jeopardize the successful staging of the performance."

Although the news release said this was a temporary suspension, the theatre is already refunding tickets.
