The Norwegian National Ballet promotes Dingkai Bai

The Norwegian National Ballet said on 17th June 2026 that Dingkai Bai was promoted to a Soloist following his performance as Romeo in Romeo and Juliet in Oslo the evening earlier.
Ballet Director Ingrid Lorentzen surprised Bai with the promotion on stage. The promotion has been reflected on his biography page of the company website.

Bai was born in China in 1999. After winning a scholarship prize at the Prix de Lausanne ballet competition in 2016, he moved to London to trained at The Royal Ballet School, according to the biography.
He joined The Norwegian National Ballet in 2024 after having danced with Dutch National Ballet since fall 2018.

This Romeo and Juliet was a world premiere by Kolayan Boyadjiev, who made adjustments and changes to the earlier version he created about two years ago.
