A dancer nearly lost a finger in Spartacus sword fight - media reports

Doctors in Kazan, Russia, had to save a finger of Wagner Carvalho, Principal of the Kazan Opera and Ballet, who nearly lost it while performing Spartacus on stage, according to media reports.
According to Evening Kazan online news, the accident occured in the evening on 23rd May 2025. Carvalho, who was casted for the title role, sustained a serious injury in his right index finger during the gladiator duel in the first act. Swords used in the scene were fake. The Brazilian dancer was rushed to the hospital by ambulance and underwent surgery in the same evening while another dancer stepped in for the role.
Tartar Inform said Carvalho was discharged from the hospital on 27th May. It quoted the press of the hospital, "Microsurgeons managed to save the finger. The patient was discharged in satisfactory condition. He will be under observation."
Apparently, some media said that Carvalho's finger was cut off.
