Akram Khan Co performance in U.S. cancelled and delayed due to visa problem
Akram Khan Company's performances in South Carolina, the United States, on 1st-2nd October 2026 were cancelled due to U.S. visa problems.
"We’re sorry to share that Thursday and Friday evening’s Akram Khan Company performances have been canceled due to an unexpected federal visa issue affecting the company. Ticket holders have been contacted," the Gillard Center said on its website.
Akram Khan Company had scheduled to perform Thikra: Night of Remembering at the Gillard Center.
The production is scheduled to tour to the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
The performance at UCSB has been moved from 6th October to 20th October.
Akhram Khan Company is also scheduled to perform in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on 14th October and at UC Davis in California on 17th October.
The company will then travel to Azerbaijan and China.
London-born Akram Khan is an internationally acclaimed British choreographer with Bangladesh background. His eponymous company does not have fixed dance troupes but hires experienced dance artists of many nationalities and ethnic background on project bases.
Thikra is inspired by AlUla, an ancient oasis city in Saudi Arabia. It is the company's last production before it ceases to operate in a current form in 2027.
