Ballet BC Artistic Director Walerski to depart in 2027

Ballet BC announced on 18th December 2025 that Artistic Director Medhi Walerski will leave his role at the end of June 2027, following the company’s 40th anniversary season.

Walreski has led the Vancouver-, Canada, based company since July 2020.

"Walerski has led the company through a period of transformational evolution and growth, his tenure highlighted by an artist-centred approach and deep commitment to creation, the relocation of the company to a new facility, an expanded touring program, increased dancer compensation, a world-renowned brand identity, and unprecedented audience growth," the company said in a news release.

The company will start a search for the successor to Walerski in summer 2026.
