Ballet Black sets up crowdfunding after eviction last year

Ballet Black has set up a crowdfunding campaign to raise fund to cover part of the cost to renovate their new studios following the unexpected eviction notice in December last year.

The London, the UK, -based award winning company moved to Hammersmith in February from Marylebone. I wrote about the move and its then-upcoming double bill although I had no knowledge about the eviction. Click here.

In the newsletter dated 29th April 2025, Company founder and artistic director Cassa Pancho said; "I am writing to you with an update on BB, and a big request for help.

"After 8 wonderful years, we have been evicted (through no fault of our own!) from our Marylebone home. This came at short notice during Christmas, and one of our busiest creative times, while we created A Shadow Work and My Sister, The Serial Killer. We were, to say the least, devastated by the news."

Ballet Black has used its own fund so far. The company still needs to raise a significant amount of money because its rent has increased by a third, and part of the building requires some more renovation to fit for a dance company.

The company aims to raise £50,000 of the total cost of £250,000. You can donate through the JustGiving page. The campagne name is Ballet Black New Home Campaign.
