Chiffon is a non-stretch lightweight fabric. The fabric I use is 100% made of polyester. It weighs 82 grammes per square meter (gsm) while georgette fabric, which is already available from the Prima Materia online boutique, weighs 100gsm. This also means chiffon is more sheer than georgette. This property makes chiffon suitable for double layer skirts.

Chiffon is also much more airly and softer than georgette and it produces beautiful drapes and curly hems especially when it is cut in bias.

Chiffon skirts look absolutely beautiful and floaty when you dance, in turns and jumps and anything in between. The are also suitable for social dances and ice dance, you name it.

Furthermore, my chiffon is machine-washable in a gentle cycle at low temperatures. I recommend using a laundry net. However, do not tumble dry but hang them to dry. It can be ironed at synthetic temperatures.
