Dior donates unused fabrics to Dutch National Opera & Ballet

The Dutch National Opera & Ballet said on 15th September 2025 that French fashion house Dior donated unused fabrics to its costume department.

"Surplus fabrics, which would otherwise have remained unused, will now be repurposed to create new costumes. In this way, the initiative contributes to more sustainable costume production," the Dutch National Opera & Ballet said in a news release.

"Sustainability has long been central to the costume workshops of Dutch National Opera & Ballet: alongside reusing existing costumes, we are committed to producing new costumes responsibly. The choice of materials plays a major role in this; not every fabric is equally environmentally friendly, and purchasing them is often costly."

With Dior's donation, the company added 24 new types of fabric to its stock.
