Dutch National Ballet announces 2026-2027 season, bringing Ekman's Play to Amsterdam

Dutch National Ballet announced its 2026-2027 season programme on 17th March 2026. It features many interesting pieces including Alexander Ekman's Play, which became an instant sensation after its world premiere with Paris Opera Ballet.


The next season will be the first season for Ernst Meisner, who will succeed Ted Brandsen as Artistic Director.


  • Legacies mixed bill: George Balanchine's Symphony in C, Toer van Schayk's Requiem, Hans van Manen's Simple Things (Company premiere), Kirsten Wicklund's world premiere

  • Metamorphosis mixed bill: Jiří Kylián's Forgotten Land, David Dawson's METAMORPHOSIS in a new, adapted version, Mthuthuzeli November's world premiere.
