Fernanda Oliviera celebrates 25 years with English National Ballet

Fernanda Oliveira, a Lead Principal of the English National Ballet (ENB), celebrates 25 years with the London-, the UK, based company this month.

"This August marks Fernanda Oliveira’s 25 years with English National Ballet. The Brazilian ballerina joined our Company in 2000, and rose through the ranks to become Lead Principal in 2009," the company said in a news statement on 27th August 2025.

According to the news statement, legendary Brazilian ballerina Cecilia Kerche and her husband Pedro Kraszczuk spotted Fernanda's talent when she was a teenager and they took her in.

Fernanda's first contract with a professional ballet company was with the Ballet Nacional de Santiago de Chile. However, she moved to London and joined the third year at the Royal Ballet School, hoping to find a job there. She subsequently joined the ENB then under the direction of Derek Deane.

In private, Fernanda is a mother of two children. Her husband is ENB's First Soloist Fabian Reimair.

Congratulations, Fernanda! Please carry on dancing and enchanting us for another 25 years.

As a personal note, I once casually asked my ballet teacher in London, Dmitri Gruzdyev who was a principal with ENB for many years, who the best Manon he had ever danced with was. He said "Fernanda" without any hesitation. Unfortunately, I never had an opportunity to see her Maonon or ENB's Manon. But I saw her Medora in Le Corsaire, in a Russell Maliphant at ENB's 70th anniversary gala and many other productions. She is so strong, precise and beautiful. A pure dancer.
