Julian MacKay, who was let go by Bayerische Staatsballett earlier this week, said he would take legal action in his Instagram post on 15th July 2026.

MacKay's post read:

"After careful review I believe my contract was terminated unlawfully and I will be pursuing legal action.

Thank you all for your support in this very difficult time."

MacKay did not name against whom he would take legal action or in what country.

On 13th July, Bayerische Staatsballett said it and MacKay were "parting ways" with immediate effect. The Munich-,Germany, based company and its former Principal Dancer have told conflicting stories.

Update on 29th July 2026 to capitalise the k in MacKay's name in the headline without any change to the text.
