Northern Ballet introduces new dancer ranks, promotes George Liang

Northern Ballet has introduced the new dancer ranks and announced a promotion and a joiner ahead of the autumn 2025 season.

"The Artistic team at Northern Ballet, led by Federico Bonelli, have worked with the dancers to develop six ranks which better reflect our performing company and the wonderful artists we work with," the Leeds-, the UK, based company said in the Company Update dated 13th August 2025.

The new ranks are Principal, First Soloist, Soloist, Coryphée, Dancers and Apprentice Dancers.

Northern Ballet also announced in the same update that George Liang has been promoted to Coryphée, and that an Australian Ballet School graduate, Eliza Hickey, has joined as an Apprentice Dancer.

Congratulations!

For later in the year, Northern Ballet will perform Merlin, Little Red Riding Hood and The Nutcracker.
