Onegin by John Cranko runs from 8th February to 4th March at Palais Garnier. Mathieu is casted for a few other shows. Click here of casting.

Mathieu joined Paris Opera Ballet in 2001 and made speedy promotions to Étoile in May 2004.

Very random personal note: I watched Mathieu Ganio in a gala performance, which was not a Paris Opera Ballet tour, in Tokyo soon after he was promoted to Étoile. But I was more interested in the young Dorothée Gilbert, who was Sujet back then. During an intermission, I overheard a random man talking to a poor random woman saying (complaining) his dance was not mature enough and started praising Farukh Ruzimatov. I was not sure what to make of this man. That was the only time I saw him on stage. I enjoyed the show nonetheless and now cherish the precious memory.

Personal note: I watched Ganio on stage in Tokyo soon after he became Étoile — I believe he was visiting there with Manuel Legris and Friends, but I was more interested in Dorothée Gilbert, who was Sujet then. I do not remember what they danced … he might have danced a La Sylphide variation.. That was the only time I saw them live.
