Promotions, joiners: Stuttgart Ballett, The Joffrey Ballet, Alvin Ailey, The Finnish National Opera and Ballet

• The Stuttgart Ballett said that Abigail Willson-Heisel was promoted to Principal Dancer following her performance as Aurora in Marcia Haydée’s Sleeping Beauty on 23rd May 2026. The promotion is effective as of the upcoming 2026-2027 season, the company said in its Instagram post on 29th May.

  
  

• The Joffrey Ballet promoted former Rehearsal Director Adam Blyde to Associate Artistic Director, a newly created leadership position, the company said in a press release on 21st May 2026.

  
  

• Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater introduced joiners to the public in its Instagram post on 27th May 2026. They are Tyrone Reese, Mahalaya Tintiangco-Cubales and Michael Cherry.

  
  

• Dima Slobodeniouk has been nominated for Chief Conductor of The Finnish National Opera and Ballet, the company said in a press release on 26th May 2026. Once the appointment is finalised at a board meeting on 10th June, his four year tenure will begin on 1st August. He is currently a guest conductor of the company.
