The Royal Ballet to host The Big Ballet with actor Ncuti Gatwa
The Royal Ballet and Opera will host The Big Ballet, a free, online-based national dance event for UK primary schools, the company said in a press release on 22nd September 2026.
Actor Ncuti Gatwa (Doctor Who, Netflix’s Sex Education, National Theatre’s The Importance of Being Earnest) will lead The Big Ballet, which is scheduled to take place on 25th February 2027.
Through The Big Ballet, children are doing to explore the story-telling of ballet by dancing Kenneth Grahame's The Wind in the Willows along with The Royal Ballet dancers.
The event "aims to break the record for the world's largest dance class across multiple venues, currently held at 26,797 participants. In total, The Big Ballet will aim to reach 70,000 pupils across two sessions," The Royal Ballet and Opera's press release said.
