Trump names himself as Kennedy Center Principal Ballerina - Borowitz Report

Donald J. Trump named himself principal ballerina of the Kennedy Center Ballet after purging the company ballerinas, The Borowitz Report reported on 10th February 2025.

“He said he was “disgusted” to discover that all of the company’s current ballerinas were women, a state of affairs that he blamed on DEI,” the report said.

You guessed it right. The Borowitz Report is a witty satire news website run by Andy Borowitz and the Kennedy Center Ballet does not exist.

In the real world, Trump named himself as the chairman of the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in the Washington D.C. last week. Trump was elected the chairman following a vote by its board on 12th February. It is a move widely seen as he is tightening his grip on the performing arts.

The Kennedy Center’s longtime president, Deborah F. Rutter, was then fired from her position. She had expressed her intention to step down last month. Meanwhile, Richard Grenell, a Trump loyalist who was ambassador to Germany during the first Trump administration, was appointed the center’s interim president, according to The New York Times.

Some artists, including Issa Rae, have since cancelled their upcoming shows at The Kennedy Center. Others disassociated themselves from the art institute.
