American Ballet Theatre announces three promotions

American Ballet Theatre (ABT) announced three promotions on 21 July 2025.


Sierra Armstrong, Takumi Miyake, and Jose Sebastian have been promoted to the rank of Soloist. These promotions are effective 1st September 2025.

For the next 2025-2026 season, the New York, the U.S.,- based ABT will miss three Principals. Cassandra Trenary will move to the Vienna State Ballet, Gillian Murphy retired from the stage on 18th July. Misty Copeland will retire at the fall gala in October.
